"What I am doing, you do not understand now, but afterward, you will understand."
John 13:7
How He Made a Way
After 6 years of on and off attempts to finish her B.S in Human Biology (part at the University of South Alabama, then continued at the University of Toronto), Makenzy dropped out to take care of her health. After realizing that Chronic Illnesses would always be apart of her life (in some way shape or form), she realized that taking the traditional path to life (college, internship, a job, and eventually a family) were not exactly the cards she was dealt with. Frustrated and lost with what that meant for her future, she spent all her free time picking up new hobbies and learning about things that interest her and that made her happy. She read books, tinkered with new tools, learned how to use different design spaces and softwares, listened to podcasts, and joined communities. Overtime, she felt like a hobbyist with no true hobby; constantly leading to dead ends. On the days she didn’t feel well, she thought a lot about who she wanted to become- rather than the person she was and all the medical struggles she faced. After a few years of feeling like she was getting nowhere, she was saved! She leaned on God for guidance and purpose for her life and not long after, he called her to spread his word. She wasn’t sure how she would, till he blessed her with the creativity and community to help her get started. In hindsight, it turns out, all the trials, tribulations, and hobbies she had gone through in her life were preparing her. All the time she wasn’t feeling well and spent that free time learning all those hobbies, turned out to be a majority of tools and knowledge she would need to start He Equips. She says that without the Chronic Illness and God, she would’ve never had the time or chance to be where she is today.

Why He Equips?
In every journey in my life where I was or felt: inadequate, unprepared, unsure, disqualified, ineligible and unfit, by truly surrendering and trusting God, he was and is constantly working in my life to equip me with the EQUIPment to be: adequate, prepared, sure, qualified, eligible, and fit. And my hope is to equip others as he has done for me.
